A motoring party which made the trip from Hamilton to Coromandcl during the Christmas holidays had a somewhat unpleasant experience. They reached their destination without mishap, but on their return trip, when laboriously making their way up a stiff incline, clinging conscientiously to their right 6ide oi" the road, another car, which was making the down grade journey at considerable pace, dashed into the climbing vmiiclc, and inflicted substantial damage, putting it completely out of commission. The driver of the down car, which, by the way, escaped with a slightly buckled wheel, was profuse in his apologies, and promised, upon reaching a settlement, to send immediate relief. This, however, did not materialise, and after waiting in vain for some hours, the unfortunate wayfarers (including ladies) had to camp for the night on the roadside, which is not a greatly frequented highway. The next morning, as assistance was not forthcoming, efforts were made to get a messago through to Thames for a taxi to be sent out. Thames was reached the second night, and the journey home completed by. train. The disabled car was-left by the roadside.
