Forestry. Mr C. B. Phillips (Ohristchuroh) expects to return to New Zealand about The end of April. The Municipal Electricity Department, Chrlstchurch, granted Mr Phillips two years' loavo tq obtain experience abroad in electrical engineering. He ftrst had three months with the British Thomson* Houston Works at Rugby, after which, he made a tour of Switeerland with the Rugby Engineering Society. Return* inz -to England, he went to the Metro* noiitan-Vickers Works at Tvafford Park, Manchester, where a twelve months' course has just been completed. The final few months are being spent at the works of Messrs Johnson ami Phillips at Charlton, Rent, Altogether Mr Phillips shqulfl have gleaned a great deal of valuable information and experience. During the summer vncatiqp he had a walking tour in the English Lakes District and devoted the remainder of tbo time to Scotland, returning to Manchester via Newcastle, Durham, and York.
