MR MAHONEY RESIGNS

Mahoney formally tendered his resignation as a member of the Federal Parliament to the Speaker oi the House of Representatives when tho latter arrived in Sydney to-day. [ill- Mahoney, n Labour member, is resigning through ill-health. Mr ]■ G'. Theodore, formerly Premier of Queensland, lias been selected by the Australian Labour Party to contest the vacancv. It is suggested that Mr Theodore may supplant Mr Charlton as leader of the' Party in the Federal House of Representatives.]
