[THE TRESS Special Sorvlce.J WELLINGTON, January 14.The Union Company has decided to recommission the Moeraki in place of the Maheno, which is laid up here as a result of a dispute between the stewards and the firemen. •■ , Some of the Maheno's officers loft by the ferry boat last night on transfer to the Moeraki at Dunedin. CARGO DISCHARGED. [THE PRESS SpccUl Service.J DUNEDIN, January 14. Mr Walter Gow, the secretary of the Dunedin Importers' and Shippers' Association, telegraphed to the head office of the Union Steam Ship Company in regard to tho suspension of the New Zea-land-Melbourne service, and asked for the Moeraki, which has been idle at Port Chalmers for some time, to replace the Maheno in the service. Mr Gow has received a "reply in which regret is expressed at the withdrawal of the Maheno owing to the failure of all efforts to effect a settlement of the dispute among the crew. . It also states that the Maheno's cargo is being discharged and will be shipped by the Katoa, leaving Wellington on Monday, and that the Moeraki will leave Dunedin next Tuesday for Melbourne direct.
