Ladies' Swimming Club, Tho Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club will hold racos at Corsair Bay this afternoon, commencing at 2.30. Firo Erigado. The annual meeting of the Lyttelton Voluntner Fire Brigade was held in the Fire Station on Thursday evening, Superintendent W. O. Carson presiding. In opening tho meeting, ho referred to the loss of their late comrade Fireman F. Koder, and the meeting adjourned for a brief period as a mark of respect to the late member. On resuming, tho report and balance-sheet wcro read. They showed that the Brigade was in a very satisfactory position. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Superintendent, W. G. Carson, lieutenant, R. Fenton; foreman, R. Carson; secretarv, B. H» Jones; treasurer, Fireman 11. Lublow; librarians, Fironten J. Tibblo and A. Smith; caretaker, R. Carson; committee, officers of tho Brigade, and Firemen A. Smith, J. Tibbie, and It. Stinson. •Superintendent Carson was appointed delegate to the United Fire Brigades' Association conference. Seamen's Institute. A concort arranged by tho recently-formed New Brighton Ladies' Guild was given in the Seamen's Institute on Thursday evening. The programme was as follows:—Vocal solos, Mrs R. Sierakowski, Miss Vincent, and Mr Alan Boon; guitar solo. Mr F. R. Monro; humorous recitations, Messrs A. Dey and 0. Collins. Miss Thompson acted as accompanist. Tho various items were admirably contributed, and frequent applause waß evidenco of the appreciation of the audience. Praiso is duo to the organisers in their initial effort in providing such an excellent programme. The Rov. T. M. Curnow acted us chairman, and voiced the thankß of those present for tho pleasant evening's entertainment.' Supper was then served by tho ladies. Over 30 men were present. Yachting. The sixth club race of the season in connexion with tho Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club will bo held this afternoon,, commencing at 3 o'clock. Considerable interest is boing taken in the cup races, and tho result of the competition is being vory keenly contested. Messrs D. and M. Scott s "atcrboetlo is leading on points, and Mr f. Dobbio's Ussher is a very close second,followed by Magpio and Phyllis. In connexion with tho Cornwcll Cup, two trials will also be "awed to-day, tho first commencing at 2 p.m. The draw for boats is as follows: —Sea-pearl (E. Sinclair), Wet-U (R. Taylor), Wee May (0. Brassell), Kai-iwi (H. Norris). _ Tho second race will be sailed immediately at tho conclusion of the first race. It will he contested by E. Sinclair (Kia-iwi) and G.
