EIGHT-OARED BOATS.
£. — tfOR CANTERBURY CREWS. " Two eight-oared rowing boats will be landed in Christchureh during the nest day or two. They ftfrived on tha Rcmu* era. which berthed from London yes» terday morning. They are of actional design, similar to that Used by the New Zealand e-ight when in Australia. The two boats for Canterbury are practico boats, and the Canterbury Eowihg Association intends to house them either at New • Brighton or Red' cliffs. Each ecntro in New Zealand has been allotted two boats, and the New Zealand Rowing' Council has two best and best eights' for interprovincial and inter-Dominion contests. A request has been made by the council that eaeh centre should use its boatß for inter*club contests and lh fact to gain as much cScperieneo in eight* oared rawing as possible. Probably tho boats will not be used much this year, but «« sfc y eat should see flome interesting contests. The boats were built by Siuinis, Of Putney, England, for the New Zealand Amatour Rowing Association.
