SUPPOSED WITCH.

GIRL TORTURED TO DEATH

!BY CABLE—FHESS ASSOCIATIOK—COJTBIGHT.) AXIJ N.Z- CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

("Received January 12th, 5.5 p^i.)

BERLIN, January 11

A strange witch-baiting case resulted in a peasant bride being tortured to death at Haltem, in Westphalia. The young girl was married at Christmas and was brought to the hospital suffering from grievous injuries. When dying, she said her husband and his family caused them, as a fortune-teller had pointed her out as a witch who had caused cattle plague on her father-in-law's farm. Therefore she was locked up, beaten, starved, and slowly tortured to death. The fortune-teller and the husband's family have been arrested.
