Joy, R.N.,, has been lent to the New Zealand Division for the Royal Navy for three years. '" The many friends in New Zealand of Colonel G. 8., Pridham, D.S.O.,'' 0.8. E., R.E., who-served with the New Zealand Engineers during, the 'Great War, will bo pleased to know that lie has been'selected for the important appointment of president of the Royal Engineer Board, from May Ist, 1927. Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel P. J. Mackesy, D.5.0., M.C., P.S.C., Royal Engineers, from a General Staff Officer, "War Office, has been appointed an Instructor at the Staff College, Quetta, India. This officer has relatives in New Zealand, 'and Majors W. E. R. Mackesy and C. R. E. Mackesy, Reserve of Officers, 9th New Zealand Mounted Rifles, Whangartsi, are his "cousins,;'.' ■ Defence College Stan*. x v It is officially notified that arrangements are now completed for the first, course in the strategy of defence which; opens next month at the! Imperial De-;. fence College in Buckingham Gate. The- 1 30 students .'will be drawn Ifrom. the, Na'vyj Army, Air Force, Indian Army,' and Dominion forces. The full list of the instructional staffs is as follows: Commandant, Vice-Admiral Sir H. W. Richmond,- K.C;B.; naval " instructor, Captain G. C. Dickens, C.M.G.; aerial instructor, Group Captain P. B.Joubert de la Ferte, C.M.G., D.5.0.; military instructor, Colonel J.. G. Dill, C.M.G., D.5.0.; secretary, Major L. A. Clemens, 0.8. E., M.C. All the staff have their respective staff qualifications as graduates. Major Clemens qualified at a junior staff course, and served until recently as a G.5.0.0f the second grade'.as assistantsecretary of the Committee of Imperial Defence'. Ho was formerly adjutant of the 2nd Battalion Prince of Wales's Volunteers, and also of the 12th Battalion and of the 1-lth Battalion, • H.L.I. He was formerly A.D.C. to General Sir W. H. Mackinnon at Chester, and was on the staff of a brigade and a division ii the war.
