A total of 170 rinks entered, and three rounds of 21 heads were ii'.aved. Nine rounds will be played before the rest section stage is reached. Thomson (Southland), who skipped the runner-up rink last year, had onlv one win, one defeat being administered l,v'pilkincton (Hamilton), who skipped the winning rink in 1023.
