CANTERBURY MARKETS

BUSINESS SLOW. (BY OUS COMMEBCIAL IDITOF..) Tuc-sdav Evening. Business remains slow with little appreciable movement in any lines. The'wheat position continue* to exercise the minds of growers and merchants alike. As long as Australian flour remains at its reduced price of £ll os f.o.b. Sydney, the millers contend that they can do nothing bettor here. Merchants aro still offering os 6d to farmers, but the latter will not sell at that price. There is very little wheat out so far in North Canterbury, but a good deal is about ready, and threshing is expected to commence in: about a fortnight or three weeks' time. New season's oats should be available shortly, as there is a good deal in stock, but 110 samples have been received so far. Farmers are being offered 2s 6d for whites, which price is a good deal lower than that offered during tho last year or two. Potatoes are offering at £3 10s on trucks, country stations.
