SIDE CAR OVERTURNS.
PASSENGER KILLED. SMASH AT AUCKLAND. [THE PEESB Special Serrtco.] AUCKLAND, January 10. Injuries, which terminated fatally at 5.45 o'clock this morning, were received by Stanley Baster, of Hegina street, Grey Lynn, when he was thrown from the side-car of a motor-cycle which overturned in the Great North road last evening. Driving along the Great North road toward Avondale, Albert Eoy Allen, the rider of the motor-cycle, when near Alexandra street, suddenly noticed a stationary bus immediately in front or" him. He put on his brakes' and tried to swerve, but he was too close to the bus to avoid a collision. Baster was thrown out of the sidecar, falling heavily and striking his head on the concrete roadway. He was immediately conveyed to Auckland Hob* pita.l, but died this morning. Allen received bruises to the faoe, arms, and knees, but his condition \ B WQ t thought to bi, serious.
Evidence of identification only was taken at the inquest this morning, and the enquiry was adjourned sine die.
