'} A remand to Wellington' until to-day was granted in the case in which Cecil Geoffrey Turnbull, aged 29 years, waß charged with stealing, at Masterton, in July, 1925, a suit of clothes valued at £lO. He was further charged with stealing, at Palmerston North, a gramophone, valued at £ll ISs. CHARGE "WITHDRAWN. John . Dawson, confectioner, aged 35 years, was charged with drunkenness, with being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, and with assaulting his wife, Gladys Christina Dawson. Sub-Inspector Mathow said that accused had not got on very well with hia wifo, and there was an application for a separation order. On the day in question accused had had too much drink, and had struck his wife. Ho had thrown something at her, but did not hit her. After the assault his wifo had got on a bicycle, but accused pulled her off. Accused stated that he had only gone to the hotel to find his wife. Sub-Inspector Mathew said that Mrs Dawson had signed the information, but was now willing to withdraw it. The information on the assault charge was withdrawn.
On the first charge accused was fined 20s, and the information on the second was dismissed.
