RE-ARRESTED.
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. [THE PSBSS Special .Serried " AUCKLAND,'January 10. Arrested for the second time in connexion with tlio samo charge,. William Hoggard, aged 59,' appeared in the Police Court to-day, .before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M. The charge was of break; ing and entering tlio shop of "William Rushton, 65 Parnell road, imd stealing articles valued at £3 6s Cd. There were alternative charges of theft' aiid receiving. When accused Was charged last Thursday with breaking and entering the easo was dismissed by. Messrs A. J. Stratford and D. Donaldson, J.P.'s, on the ground that, there .was insufficient evidence to connect, accused with the crime. He was later re-arrested by the police, and remanded until to-day_. Evidence given at the previous hearing was repeated, accused, who .was not represented by counsel, examining witnesses; from the dock.
At the conclusion he asked the Magistrate to dismiss .the case on the ground that the evidence was not strong enough. The Magistrate said ho thought .there was a case to answer. Accused would bo committed to the Supremo Court for trial.
