PERSONAL. (SPtCUL TO THI FRSSS.) GREYMOUTH, January f>. Mr D. Tennent arrived by yesterday's express from a holiday" spent in Christchurch. lie was accompanied ].v Ins daughter, Miss K. Tennent. Mr George Ash by, who has been visiting Canterbury, returned to Grcymouth yesterday. Mr E. T. Sheedy, who has been at- • tending the West Coast Meetings, will return to Christchurch to-morrow. . Mr B. Hatch, who has been officiating as starter at the West Coast Meetings, will leavi to-morrow for Palmerston North. Mr C. 11. Gorton (Stipendiary Steward) will leave to-morrow for Timaru. Mr 11. M. Coulson (Hokitika) will leave to-morrow for Christchurch. I[ o will return on Thursday, and at the end of the month he will leave on a prolessional trip to America and the Old Country. Mr W. Deere, who has been visiting relatives in Grcymouth, returned yesterday to Wellington. Mr J. S. Orr, formerly of the Railway Locomotive staff, Greymouth, and now of Oxford, has received notice of transfer to Invercargill, on promotion. Mr and Mrs F. 11. Denton returned ! from Christchurch yesterday. Mr A. 11. Kimbell, Under-Secretary for Mines, who has been visiting the West Coast, in connexion with the disposal of the Kumara water-race to the Westland Power Board, arrangements for which arc practically completed, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr Allan Smith left yesterday for Christchurch. Nurse Malcolm, of the Grey Hospital staff, who suffered injuries to her kneo as the result of a bicycle accident at Cobden on Friday, is making satisfactory progress. The death occurred at the Grey Hospital last evening of Mr Patrick Shannahan, aged forty-five years. Mr Slifinnahan, who was unmarried, was a native of Grcymouth, and served during the war in tlio Tunnelling Corps. He was a son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Shannahan, who kept the Union Hotel, Grey- I mouth, for many years. Death resulted I from pneumonia. Ho leaves two sis- jtors, Mcsdames T. Kiely (Greymouth), | and E. King (Wellington), and several brothers, among whom are Messrs D. Shannahan and «T. Shanuahan (Greymouth), and T. Slisinnahan (Ikamatua). The marriage will bo solemnised at St. Patrick's Church, Greymouth, on Tuesday morning at eight o'clock, of Helen Frances, second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. 11. Kilgour, Shakespeare street, Greymouth, and Ronald, only son of Mr and Mrs E. Webber, Eangiora. The ceremony will bo performed by tho ltev. Father John Kilgour. "Mr C. Fraser, who has been spending a holiday in Christchurch, returned by yesterday's express. Girl Guides. A squad of the Greymouth Girl Guides under Captain M. Parfitt and Lieutenant Steer, also a. squad of tlio • Hokitika Guides left yesterday to at- t tend a camp at Oaraaru. i Westland County Jubilee. The Golden .Tubileo of tho Westland ; County will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 18th. Tho celebrations will in- ' elude a Jubilee dinner, which will lake place on tho eveuing of the Golden Jubileo Day. Injured Jockey, : George Holley, who sustained a fiac- , ture of the skull as the result of a fall from Flying Master at the Grcymouth ( Eaces on New Year's Day, J3 reported to bo slightly improved, although his condition is still serious. It is probable that an operation will bo necessary. ,I'
