PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club held its third Waiouru race recently. Fifty birds, representing 16 owners, were liberated by Mr Thomas at 6 a.m., in calm, fine ■weather, which turned to south-west and heavy rain, preventing the birds homin» on the day of liberation. Lady Bekeman°won easily, flying the distance of 338 miles 56 yards in 18 hours 51 minutes 43 seconds The following are the results:— Yds A. Gerard's Lady Bekeman .. 525' G. Martin's No. 330 ~ ~ 331 H. Pearson's No. 949 .. ..369 A. J. Higgs'a Cinema Star .. 33-3 A Gerard wins the special prize given by Mr J. Green; G. Bobertson' wins the special prize given by Mr C. Kirkeley for the highest aggregate in all races up to and including Waiouru; P. Chambers and W. Lcwin w:n special nominated prizes.
