LYTTELTON NEWS.
Personal. The Kcv. A. J. Petrie, vicar of Holy Trinity, and Mrs Petrie, leave on Monday for a holiday at Temuka, returning to Lyttelton on January 28th. During Mr Petrie's absence the Rev. G. N. Watson, of Temuka, will be in charge o£ Holy Trinity. Yachting. Tho Canterbury Yacht Club will hold an open race for yachts this afternoon, and a sailing dinghy raco for boys. The sixth trial raco for the Takapuna sailing puntß will also be held. Methodist Church. Tho preacher at the Methodist Church tomorrow morning and evening will be tho Rev. E. W. Hames, of Cashmere Hills. Mr Hames has also consented to address the Sunday school in the afternoon. Magistrate's Court. Messrs F. Knights, J.P., aud J. T. Norton, J.P., presided at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Arthur Cecil Peters and David Donaldson were charged with travelling on the ferry steamer Maori from Wellington to Lyttelton without paying thoir fares. Both ploaded guilty, and said they had come south to try to obtain work. They had just ono shilling between them. They were convicted and each fined JE3, in default three weeks' imprisonment.
