SHEFFIELD SHIELD. VICTORIA'S GIG WIN. t r,T CABLE—HtESS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN A.VD -V.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received Januarr nth, 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. January 6. Iti the Sheffield Shield match against Viororia .South Australia, in the second innings, made 233 (A. Richardson 30, Schneider 53, V. Richardson 41, Pritchard 22. Grimmett 21. not out). Bowling for Victoria. Morton took four for 70, Blackie 3 for 75, and Ryder I for 23. On a wicket badly damaged by rain, with Halfombc absent owing rn injuries, and with a huc;e deficit of over ROO to face, the visitors' cri.in -ps were horelc.-s. but they cheerfully tackled a thankless job. Despite the help the bowlers jot from a wet wicket, the batting in the earlier atajes was confident, and runs came freely. With the dismissal of the Richardsons and Schneider, the bowlers had their day, and soon r3n through the tail-enders, excepting Grimmett, who played a Mubborn game, giving no 'chances. Morton and Blackie bowled with consistent pace and cleverness. Victoria won by 571 runs.
