AT THE STADIUM.

TO-MORROW NIGHT'S SPORTS. "Who will win the quarter-mile New Zealand track championship 1" This question will bo answered at English Park Stadium tomorow night, when the Mairehau Sports Club will conduct a h.igb-class sports meeting. Frank Carey, the present holder, is at the top of his form at tho present time, and recently demonstrated his sprinting abilities in no uncertain manner. Ho will, however, be hard put to it to defeat J. Bearman, the one and two miles South Island champion. At Timaru last week Bearman showed better form than he has done previously, and has developed a remarkable turn of speed which his many supporters declare will carry him to victory. The chances of the all-round champion, Phil O'Shea, cannot be denied, and ho is rapidly regaining his top form. C. Austin should also figure prominently in the championship, as only last week ho secured the one and three miles Canterbury championships against strong fields. Four heats and a final will be necessary to decide the championship. Lovers of thrills and cscitement will find these provided in tho motor-paced match race between A. 0. Ritchie and H. Burnaud. The race will be docidod over three distances of two miles each. Both riders aro keen, and faavo acquitted themselves woll in trial runs. A speed of approximately forty miles per hour will be attained by the riders and their pilots during the course of ftiis race, and the test for supremacy promises to be a most thrilling one. The programme consists of several firstclass handicap events in which the cream of the Dominion's sprinters are participating, including W. Mackie, J. Henderson, Phil O'Shea, J. Bearman, C. Sowden, and C. Bright. The racing will commenco at 8 o'clock.
