PACIFIC CABLE.
——♦ SIR JULIUS VOGEL'S INTEREST. (iT.OJt ova OWJf COKRESro.VDE.Vr.) LONDON, November 30.
In connexion -with the recent extension of the Pacific cable service to the Dominions, Mr Julius L. F. Vogel sent to "The Times" the following copy of a cable sent on October 31st, 1902, thinking it may be of interest: — "From Wellington, dated October 31st. Time 9.10 p.m. To Lady Vogel, earo of Deputy, London. Sincere congratulations completion Pacific cable which Sir Julius originated. Eegret not spared witness this monument his genius and foresight.—Seddon, Premier." This was, of course, sent by the Bt. Hon. Eichard Seddon, Prime Minister of New Zealand for many years, and refers to the Hon. Sir Julius Vogel, K.C. M.G., who was Prime Minister of and Agent-General for the Colony for considerable periods between 1870 and 1890.
