RESCUE FROM DROWNING.
FISHING BOAT CAPSIZES. (THB PRESS Bpecfcl Service.] AUCKLAND. January 4. A thrilling adventure befell A. Simpson and J. Boyd, of Auckland, through the capsize of a boat in which they were fishing in the Tamaki river, off Point England, on Monday afternoon. The boat capsized as the anchor was being pulled up. Both men were thrown into the water, and the boat itself sank. Simpson is a fairly good swimmer, but Boyd is not. The task of keepine afloat severely tried both men, and after about a quarter of an hour their position was critical. In the meantime, D. Ireland and B Bond, two residents at Point England, who were fishing about half a mile away, had seen the plight of the men, and rowed hard to the rescue. Bond jumped .into the water, and holding to the boat with one hand, drapged Simpson and Boyd on board. Both were thoroughly exhausted, and the rescuers had arrived only in the nick of time.
