METHODIST CIRCUIT.
LEESTON. The quarterly meeting of office-bearers of the Leeston Methodist circuit was .held on Monday evening, the Rev. A. O. Hams preBiding over a good attendance. The financial statement showed a credit of £3 17s sd. A sum of £96 13s had been raised during the quarter by means of a barrow fair organised by the Circuit Ladies Guild. ','..» Mr A. Tong was re-elected senior circuit .teward, and Mr R. G. Bishop junior steward. The Society, sacramental, and church stewaids for the various churches in the circuit "ere also appointed. Mr B. G. Bishop was appointed lay representative _ to conference, which will meet at Auckland in March. It was decided to urge conference to make a protest against the action of the Railway Department in running Sunday excursions, and also against the action of the Minister for Internal Affairs in granting numerous permits for the holding of big art unions. The chairman referred to the good work performed bv several Southbridge members at the Bishop's corner cemetery, which was now in better order than for a number of years. . It was decided to convey to the Circuit Ladies' Guild the Circuit Board's appreciation of its efforts in the direction of liquidating the circuit debt.
