SYDNEY BLAZE.
BRANDS FALL QUARTER OF A MILE AWAY. (BT CABLE—miSS ASSOCIATION—COPTBIGHT.) (AUSTBALIAN AKD H.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATIOK.) SYDNEY, January 3. In addition to Metter's, seven other buildings were badly damaged by water and blazing brands, some of which fell a quarter of a mile away, in the great fire yesterday. It was early recognised that there was no chance of saving Metter's, and the firemen concentrated their efforts on preventing the outbreak from spreading. The street in the vicinity is now closed to traffic owing to the danger of falling walls.
