FALL DOWN STAIRS.

DEATH OF WATERSIDE WORKER. About 9.30 on New Year's Eve a man named Frank Robert Roder was found in an unconscious condition at the foot of a flight, of stairs leading down into the basement at the Fire Brigade Station. He was removed to his home, and was later attended by Dr. B. H. Gilmour. It was found that Roder was suffering from a fracture of the skull, and he was immediately removed to the Ohristchurch Hospital. Roder's condition grew worse and he died at 1.30 on Saturday afternoon. Deceased was a single man, aged 44 years, and was a waterside worker by occuption. An inquest was opened by the Coroner, Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., yesterday morning, when evidence of indentification was given by a brother, and by Dr. Jennings. The inquest was then adjourned until Wednesday next at Lyttelton.
