FRENCH CROWD BREAKS LOOSE.
* INTERNATIONAL RUGBY MATCH. (BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AMD *■£. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received January 2nd, 5.5 p.m.) PAIIIS, January 1. Twenty thousand people witnessed the international Rugby match, in which Ireland defeated Franco by 8 points to 3. Disgraceful scenes attended the conclusion of play. A section of the spectators, who were noisily hostile for most part of the game, disputing many of the referee's decisions, invaded the ground, menacing the referee, who was a former Scottish international skipper, Mr R. Soott. The latter eventually escaped by the back door of the Stadium under police protection. It remains to be seen whether the Irish will make a formal protest, and whether they will refuse to play France again. Crawford, the Irish captain, said lie would not mako an official report. French critics and the Fench team agree that Mr Scott carried out his duties as referee in an unexceptionable manner.
