AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY.
The Christchurch Amateur Operatic Society met to decide whether to produce the musical comedy, "The Arcadians." The play has been produced by tile Auckland Society just recently and they played to capacity houses. Owing to the fact that the whole show depends upon the comedian Peter Doody (the mournful jockey, who has been riding in races all his life and yet never won one) and that the Society is anxious that they Becure the best possible results it was decided to call for applicants for that part. Owing to the fact that )t would be unablo to meet together until after the New Year the concert committee reported that nothing could be done at present but everything wag being done to gisia a concert about the end of January either at Halswell or Templeton. Various accounts were passed for payment.
