"DOLLAR DIPLOMACY."

U.S. "IMPERIALISM" '■' CONDEMNED.

(KHOM OUB OWN COBKESPOKDENT.)

SAN FRANCISCO, November 25

The principal Mexico City newspaper devoted long editorials, barbed with satire and ridicule, in condemnation of the attitude of the United States in i.lie Nicaragua.! affair. Both "El Universal" and "Excelsior" referred iiemiently to what they termed Washington's "Dollar Diplomacy," and American Imperialism" in Latin America. The fundamental argument of each editorial was "the inconsistency or # tho United States in objecting to Mexico a imaginary interference in Nicaraguan affairs When the United States has notoriously interfered in the polities of Mexico and other Latin-American countries." ' i . The editorials further alleged that "tho intrigue of the Washington Government itself" has caused revolutions in Nicaragua. "El Universal" declared the White House point of view was intolerable in every wav, and added: "It arrogates to itself the functions of an armed crendarmerio with police supervision over all Spanish-speaking peoples ot the Western Hemisphere with its bruto force, to determine the destinies of every Latin-American country as Washington decrees." "Excelsior" says: "The present exhibition of dollar diplomacy is even more vulgar than previous amazing performances. The White Houses recognition of the spurious Diaz Government of Nicaragua is so inconsistent as merely to become an absurdly irritating farce. . "Secretary Kellogg's assumption or concern at imaginary Mexican interference in Nicaragua is a rabid exhibition of hyprocrisv because Diaz, the White House's Nicaraguan President, has been the puppet of American capitalism in Nicaragua since 1909. ' "Excelsior" asserted that the United States has violated the sovreignity of Colombia, Haiti, Cuba. Nicaragua, and Santo Domingo, and observed sarcastically, "but these are the exclusive and legitimate rights of the United States. It is all right for American imperialism and dollar diplomacy, defending Wall street," continued the paper, "to interfere with Latin-American countries, but mythical Mexican interference becomes a grave crime."
