V sixteen-whceled electric locomotive used at the inauguration of the n fW Paris to Vierzou service hauled a 400 ton train 143 miles, at an average soeed of 81 miles an hour. The power Kied was hydro-electric The service forms part of a comprehensive plan to render the French railways independent of foreign eoal.
