POWER BOARD AND COUNTY.
The election of members to represent the Ashburton County on the Ashburton Electric Power Board, and to represent the Ashburton, Mt. Somers, and Wakanui ridings on the County Council, was held yesterday with the following results:— Power Board. Hunter Morris .. 903 Frederick William Watt 879 Stanley Smith .. 821 Angus Horsey .. .. 796 John Grigg .. .. 793 John William Martin Dart 742 William Glassey Gallagher 725 William Thomas Lill .. 654 Herbert James Crothers 600 John Anderson Fleming .. 548 Hugh Beeve Wilkinson ~ 385 Informal votes .. 15 The first eight are elected. County Council. On the County Council the Ashburton riding will be represented by its old member, William T. Lill, who polled 240 votes, while his opponent, Herbert Watts, received 172 votes. John Moore, jus., 220 votes, and David James Morrow, 267 votes, were re-elected to represent the Mt. Somers riding. The other candidate, Bedntond Barry Neill, received 145 votes. Informal votes 4.
The old member of the Wakanui riding, Frederick Frampton, was unseated by James Bruce by one vote. Frampton polled 235, and Bruce 236. Informal votes 5.
gprings-Ellesmere Power Board Statelet. An election was held to determine the representative of the Springs County on the Springs-EHesmere Power Board, with the following result:— J. W. Kirae .. .. 100 E.H. Bowell .. .. .80 Mr B3me is elected.
SURPRISES IN MARLBOROUGH.

BLENHEIM, May 12,
The surprise of the Marlborough county elections to-day was the defeat of the chairman, Mr Donald McCallum, one of the most prominent local body men in the province. Mr H. J. Stace, another very prominent member, who would probably have been the next chairman, wa« aleo defeated. Mr Oharle* Nees, an ex-chairman, is not safe, though the final returns from his riding are unavailable to-night on account of telephonic interruptions. Those definitely elected so far ate: Messrs James Fulton, Bobert Ham, Ohris Smith, A. H. Nees, A. M. W. Adams, F. E. Fairweather, J. H. Diek, A. J. Mills, and John ODwyer, with the three Pelorus seats still uncertain.

NORTH CANTERBURY ELECTIONS
Following are the results of the elections yesterday for members to represent the combined district of Waimairi County and Eiccarton Borough, and the combined district of the counties of Paparua, Halswell, and Heathcote on the North Canterbury Hospital Board:— BICCABTON-WAIMAIRI DIBTBICT.
