THE RIVER TRUST.
CITY'S REPRESENTATION.
PROPOSAL TO INCREASE.
Some surprise was occasioned at yesterday's meeting of the Waimakariri River Trust, by Mr A. Manhire, who advocated additional representation for the City.
Mr Manhire said there was' some discontent in the City with the constitution 6i the Trust. He believed that the scheme was turned down more in view of the City representation on the Trust, than on its merits. He gave notice to move as follows:—" That in view of the unequal representation of the Soutji sub-division on the Trust, taking into consideration the great preponderance of both ratepayers and the value of rateable property in the South subdivision, steps be taken to have the Wainiakariri River Improvement Act amended in the driection of giving the South sub-division one additional representative."
Mr Blackwell asked whether he could move an amendment, but the chairman said this would havo to be done at the meeting at which the motion was discussed.
