ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON'S - SPORTS. On Saturday afternoon next a sports meeting of more than usual interest will be held at Par£ Stadium. One of the big | features will be a motor-paced handicap race in which prominent rider* will take part, including Jimmy Beer, the Australian. _ He will be paced by Horaco Holder. This is the first time that this class of racing has been held in New Zealand, and it iB-antici-pated that it will provide thrills in plenty. The five miles New Zealand and' Australian track championship will also be held and will be contested for by the pick of the Dominion's riders and also by Horace Horder, Jimmy Beer, Jumbo Wells, Jack Henderson, Ph : .l O'Shea, and other prominent riders. One and two laps open handicap races are • also included on the programme, and the N.Z. A. and C. Union's amateurs will ra«e over one lap. Professional runners will compete in a 120 yards run. The sports will be held under the auspices of th« North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union, and the proceeds will be devoted to the Timarn to Christchurch road race funds. The management of the Stadium has given the use of .the Park free of cost for the meeting. The entries for the sports close 'to-morrow night.
