UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.

A meeting of the New Zealand Poultry Club was held last night, Mr B. W. Hawke presiding over a good attendance. / The secretary (Mr H. W. Beck) reported on the 1925-26 competitions. He staled that several records had been made. Mr H. Williams's single White Leghorn had put up » new worlds record by laying 345 eggs in 365 days. The same competitor s three-bird team hadl laid 936 in 365 days. Mr Wards six White Leghorns laid 1659 eggs m 365 days. Mr H. "W. Beck's ducks had laid 1659 eggs in 365 days. The Leghorn. Shield was won by Messrs Calder Brothers; the Black Orpington Shield by Mr' G. A. Grainger; the. Duck Shield had not been won; Mr J. W. Thompson's team secured 21A points for ehow, tho conditions laying down that at least 22 points must bo obtained for show.' Twenty-four qualified for t,h« Studholme Test, which was won by Mrs Harris, Papanui, with 98 points; Mr Williams's No. 2 team came second with 96 points. The.averages for each breed in all the competitions were: White Leghorns 225, Black Orpingtons 202, Rhode Island Bed 214,- Barred Recks 162, White Wyar.dcttcs 229, Black Minorcas 178, Old English Game 149, Brown Leghorns 189. Fawn and White Runners 245, White Runners 148, Khaki Campbells 202. ' The chairman, on behalf of the club, congratu"Btea Mr Williams on the very fine score by his White Leghorns. ■ X The secretary stated that photographs had been taken of the winaing birdß, and it was intended to send .copies of them all over the world. Regarding the 1926-27—the twenty-second competition—the secretary reported that it started on Sunday last. Up to the present they were about twelve three bird teams short, and one flock team short. The singles had filled up, but there was room for, a few more.
