PIPING AND DANCING ASSOCIATION.
——♦—— A special meeting of the North' Canterbury Piping and Dancing Centre was held on Saturday eight. In the aboence of the president (Mr Aleo Macpherson), 'Mr J. S. Chisholra presided over a full attendance of members.' The secretary reported that the entries for the piping and dancing competitions, to be held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, had reached ■ the record total' of 302 from 85 competitors. Entries had been received from champion pipers and dancers of Southland, Otago, South Canterbury, and North Canterbury. The chairmai< and several members expressed appreciation of the very large number of entries received. The • following officials were appointed to control the competitions:—Stage rranagor, John Aitken: piping stewards, Chas. Gibson and W. Boss, dancing stewards, C S. Thomas, A. H. Paterson, and John Williamson; steward, J. S. "Chisholm; doorkeepers, D. Irvine and F. Dick; secretary, Geo. Sey; -assistant-secre-tary, V. Geo. Brass.
