TEMUKA. The Easter Sunday services at St. Peter's Church, Temuka, commenced with a Communion service at 7.30 a.m. The vicar (Rev. G. N. Watson) conducted the services for the day. The attendance at the Communion service at 11.15 was very large, every available seat being occupied. The vicar took for his text, "The Disciples were glad when they saw the Lord," St. John, 20, 20. In the evening the church was again well filled, the preacher's text being taken from St. John, 20, 10. Special hymns were sung •by the choir, the processional hymn being "Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Anthe"m," and as a recessional, "Now Thank We All Our God" was' sung. The festival responses were sung for the first time, and added greatly to the dignity of the service. The church was beautifully decorated with white flowers and green and autumn-tinted foliage. At the Presbyterian Church, Temuka, special services were held during Easter Sunday. In the morning the Rev. A. W. Stuart preached to a large congregation, taking as his text, "I was,not disobedient to the Heavenly vision." In the evening the Rev H. R. Fell preached oh "Unconquerable Optimism," when there was again a good attendance of worshippers. The services at the Methodist Church, Temuka, on Easter Sunday, were well attended. The. Rev. R. Richards preached at both services. In the morning he spoke of the message of hope in the Resurrection, and at night based his words on the Crowning of Thorns. The Church was beautifully decorated with flowers and autumn leaves. At St. Joseph's Church, Temuka, on Easter Sunday, the Rev. Father Fraher conducted the services. There was Special Easter music for the Mass, the sermonju the morning having reference to the firopef keeping of Holy Week, and in the evening the subject being the "Resurrection of Christ.". There were large congregations at the Salvation Army Hall on Easter Sunday. Special services were held in the morning and evening, conducted by Captain and Mrs Bartlett. The silver b/md and orchestra gave special Easter music. Temuka was. very fortunate with regard to the weather for the Easter holidays. Last Thursday it looked anything bus promising, heavy rain falling all day, and early on Tuesday morning a light rain set in, and continued most of the day.
