KIDNAPPED.
MOVIE THRILLS IN REAL LIFE. (st cable—press association— coptkight.) (Sidney "Suit" Sbsvice.) NEW YORK, September 6. A sensational kidnapping case' is reported from Saint Clair, New Jersey. Mary Daly, step-daughter of Joseph Bower, vice-president of the New York Trnst Company, was whisked away in a taxi-car from the front of her home. Then came a wild chase through city streets and country roads as Santine. chauffeur for. Bower, pursued the fleeing kidnapper, who forced his negro taxi-driver to the utmost speed. The kidnapper finally shot Santine as the two cars raced side by side along the road. Santine suffered a scalp wound and became unconscious, and the kidnapper disappeared. Tho kidnapper then murdered his own driver, whose body was found alongside the road.
MURDERER CONFESSES.
SON OF WEALTHY LAWYER. "(Sydnet "Sxtk" Sebvice.) (Received September 7th, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 6. Noel, aged twenty years, son of a wealthy New York lawyer, confessed to the kidnapping and murder of Mary Daly, step-daughter of Joseph Bower. He has also confessed to the murder of Pierce, a coloured taxi-driver, whose car Noel used, and to the wounding of John Santine, who pursued Noel.
The confession followed the identification of Noel by Santine in hospital. Noel, who previously stated that he merely kidnapped the girl for the purpose of demanding £BOOO ransom, is a former student of a military college. He had been in an asylum. Both bodies were recovered. i .
