TEST CRICKET.
ALL ENGLAND TEAM. HOBBS'S CHOICE OF PLAYERS. (B1 CAILB— PMSS 4.SSOCIATIOS—COPISIOHT.I (AtfSTIULIAS ASD 5.Z. CABMt ASSOOATIO*.; LONDON, September 6. J. B. Hobbs, writing in the 'Sunday Express/' on "My Team for the Tests," says:— "I must admit, with all modesty, that I would probably be one of the first selected, but at present I feel I would like to rest on my laurels. I have had sufficient cricket this yean, and I also feel I hare no chance of enhancing my Test record. On the contrary, the longer I play, the more chance I have of spoiling it. "Though most sorry to do so. ] would have to pass over'Gilligan on form. My choice for captain would be A W. Carr. a much-improved player, with the many qualities required in a captain. "Assuming I do not play, my team would be:—A. W. Carr, Percy Holmes, H. Sutdiffe, M. W. Tate, G. C. Macaulay, E. Hendren, G. T. S. Stevens, Roy Kilner, B. Liiley, V. W. C. Jupp, with A. Sandham, F. E. Woolley or C. Hallows.
"This is the team that is likely to score quickly. For those who would like to scrap the whole bunch of older players, here is an alternative:—A. "W. Carr, G. T. S. Stevens, V. W. C. Jupp, G. C. Macaulay, M. W. Tate, G. O. Allen or H. Larwood, H. Sutcliffe, P. Holmes, B. Liiley, C. Hallows and TV. 11. Hammond or F. Watson.
"Some people think that because we ran the Australians prettv close in Australia, it will be a Cakewalk here. Take it from roe ; it will not. They arc fighters, and will come with the firm intention of winning the rubber. It will be a case of gloves otf. ' "My team will make a good eleven of triers certain to go all out and unHkelv to suffer from stage fright. C. WV L. Parker, in the event of wet weather, would-be an invaluable .bowler.
"Summing up, I am hopeful, but not over confident, knowing how the Australians rise to the occasion. Tn mv opinion the outcome is an evenmoney chance."
