o MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held yesterday. Present: Mr A. W. McGillivray (chairman), Mesdamcs F. K. Biltdiff, A. K. Turner, Messrs J. Spiller, J. C. Lord, and A. 11. Morten. A vote of condolence was passed with Mr 0. T. Bullock, secretary of the Society,' in the death of his mother. , The inspector reported that he had found the stock road alongside the railway line at Addingfon unfit for the conveyance of stock on account of the water which covered it. It would be cruelty, he stated, to' drive sheep along it. He also reported that he had given 16 cautions to different persons during the month with regard to their treatment of animals. It was decided to bring the matter of the Addington stock road under the notice of the Kaleyards Company. It was decided to hold the Society's annual meeting on Tuesday, September 29th.
