MADMAN CAPTURED.

DRIVEN OUT BY GAS

(BT* CABLE—PEES 3 ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLI ASSOOATIO*,) LONDON, September 4. The Paris correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" says: "In consequence of a night attack by a footpad, resulting in shock, Andre Gautier, of Albi, in the Tarn Department, became obsessed with the idea that he was subject to Communist persecution. Yesterday he became completely insane, barricaded himself in a house and fired at the passers-by, killing two children and seriously wounding two other people. When the police arrived he fired at them, but was eventually driven out with gas bombs. Thereafter it was a street battle, with the madman shooting wildly, until a policeman, with a borrowed rifle, shot him dead.
