MOSUL FRONTIER.
COLONIAL SECRETARY AT GENEVA. (BT CABLE —PBSSS ASSOCIATION —COPTBIGHT.) tEBUTBs'S TKLEGKAMS.) GENEVA, September 4. The retort to the Turkish caf« regarding Mosul was delivered by the lit. Hon. L. C. M. S. Amery, who spoke for an hour before the league of Nations Council. Mr Amery resented the Turkish conclusions, which, he pointed out, were not the conclusions of the League Commissioners, while the Turkish arguments regarding the wishes of tho population in the disputed territory were based on the reports of Djevad Pasha, the Turkish assessor on the Commission.
Mr Amery emphasised the point that Great Britain was most desirous of securing a satisfactory settlement of tho frontier question in the interests of the population as well as those building up the young Iraq State. He repeated the assurance that Great Britain would respect tho council's decision, but remarked that he had not hitherto heard a similar assurance on the part of Turkey.
NEUTRAL COMMISSION. APPOINTED BY LEAGUE. (atstbauak and h.k. cash association.) (Received September 6th, 5.0 p.m.) GENEVA, September 4. The League Council appointed a subcommittee consisting of representatives of Spain, Sweden and Uruguay to report on the Mosul question and recommend a decision in that connexion.
