SCHOOL JUBILEE.
EAST CHRISTCHURCH. A special meeting of old pupil® of the East Christchurch school was held on Wednesday, Mr W. 0. Harvey presiding-. The following com mi Iteea wer© appointed for the Jubilee celebrations:— Picnic, on Thursday, October 22md—Messrs Horace Thompson (convener), C. V, Harvey, Jme. Maddren, E. Patten, with two members of the teaching staff and two members of the school committee. Conversazione, Exhibition, and Sale of Work, on Friday, October 23rd —Messrs E. Lea.ver, D. Lee, E. T. Sugden, J. Wallace, T. Hazard, Rev. A. H. Korris, the teaching etfcff, and the school committee, Mr Beeves to be convener. Social, on the eveniag of Saturday, October 2rth—Messrs W. G. Williams (convener), A. H. Milner, Jatf. Thomson, Jas. Maddren, S. Stewart, W. Gilpin, T. Haxard, P. Maurice, C. M. Mason, W. Simpson, H. E. Gott, D. Lee, and Mesda:ne£ Gentry, Peters, Densem, and Burson. Mr E. T. Sugden offered to print souvenir programmes of the celebrations free of charge, while Mr Horace Thompson offered a prize for the pupil (boy or girl) writing tbo best poem or essay on the Jubilee of the school.
The arranging of the concert programme for Friday, October 23rd, was left to Mr Horace Thompson. The secretary was instructed to forward a letter of condolence to Mr G. J. Dennis, one of .the members of the Association.
