ST. PETER'S CHURCH, UPPER RICCARTON.
The vestry of St. Peter's Chureli, Upper ]?iecarion, ljare launched an appeal for about £3OOO in order to. complete the building of the churcli in stone. St. Peter's is one of the oldest foundations in the Diocese.' Most of the original elmr.c.h has disappeared. Tho chancel . was rebuilt ,in stone in lS76,'tho transepts, organ-dumber ami a portion of the nave were added in IB'UO, and to-day the only part of the historic wooden building that remains is a. small pot;iion of the west end. now reduced by time and the tireless borer to pronounced decay. It is proposed to replace it with stono. and to add a tower and spire, at a cost of about £4:?00. Of this sum £'l2oo is in hand, largely the result of the generosity of a few subscribers. meeting of "tho parishioners in December last unanimously decided to attempt the completion' .of the church and the now vestry is now appealing not onlv to present parishioners, but to all who are linked to St. Peter's by ties of baptism, confirmation. marriage,, the burial of relatives' in the churchyard or any other personal association with the Church. 31r T.
