SATURDAY. • (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) DEFENCE CASES. Two voung lads were exempted from military training oh the ground that they were conscientious objectors. JUVENILE THIEVES, Two lads, aged 14 years and 12 years respectively, -were jointly charged with uaving stolen a quantity of cigarettes, matched, and tinned' foods, of a total value of £l, the property of St. George Atkinson and Co., merchants, Christchurcli, on Juno 28th. It was stated that one of the ladb nad climbed through a fanlight, and had admitted the other by opening a side door. Bold. P 'The* younger of the pair was committed to the Christchurcli Receiving Home, to be brought up in the Roman Catholic form oi religion. The case against the other toy was adiourned for twelve months, during which time he is to he under the abbolute discretionary control of the Probation OfUcei.
