MR R. C. BISHOP.
RETIREMENT FROM GAS COMPANY. Mr R. C. Bishop, General Manager of the Christchurch Gas Company, who has been in ill-health for some time, retires from tho company's service as from July Ist, on extended leave and, after that, on pension.
Mr Bishop has been in the company's service for fifty-three, years, and is looked upon throughout New Zealand as the father of the gas industry in tho Dominion. Forty-two years ago ho was appointed secretary of tho company, and for the past ten years lias filled the office of General Manager; he has been intimately concerned with the success of the company from its early days. Mr E. W. Reed, who has becn^secretary to the company since 1915, will take over Mr Bishop's duties.
