BURWOOD ITEMS.
Tho Burwood Soldiers' Memorial Trustees held a meeting recently to consider further tho erection of a filone wall round the reserve. Two tenders -were received lor the work and after considerable discussion, it was decided to approve of one of them subject to a. slight alteration in the height of stone and foundation. Messrs h. Walker and L. Bradstock were appointed a subcommittee- to see the contractor and to report at a future meeting. It was decided to invito subscriptions for the work as the committee is £3O short of the required amount. „ t rt i t At a meeting, of the Burwocd School Committee, held on Thursday, the followin it members wore present:—Messrs J. Logins (chairman), J. McKechnic G. Robinson, W. Banipton, J. Wilson H Rowse .An ■apology was received from Mr W. Bucktm. The treasurer reported a credit balance ol £ls Us from the recent concert, and tins amount will receive a £ for £ subsidy from tV. Education Department. It was decided tl.' write to Mrs Hughes, the organiser ol the partv, expressing the committees api-rc-ciation of ilw programme and thanks to the Mr J. Wilson, delegate to the School Committees' Association, reported on 'tho work of the Association, and it was decided to continue- membership and Messrs 3 Wikon and H. Rowse were app-riW delegates. The headmaster, m his report, referred to the old-fash.ion.ea desks in the infant room and asked thao application be made for infant chair.* and tables. It was decided to act accordingly. Mess.* G. Robinson and W. Bampton were .appointed a Visiting Committee.
