HARBOUR BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The Lyttelton Harbour Board met at Lyttelton yesterday. Present: Messrs W. J. "Walter (chairman), H. Holland, J. Stony, F. Horrell, M. J. Miller, R. Galbraith and Captain H. Monro. The Engineer reported that the raising of the western containing mole to the level of tho mud inside had been continued. Tho ground was still too wot to enter upon. .The mud .shoots at tho cattle wharf and dredge's wharf had been dismantled and removed. Bearing piles on the Gladstone Pier had been driven for a distance of 960 ft. caps laid for 948 ft, floor beams laid for BSBft, lower decking for 364 ft, raking; piles driven for 792 ft. and fender piles for a distanco of 900i't Tho remaining threo capstans were- in position on No. 1 Breastwork. AH the other 22 new capstans were in use. In pursuance of the notice given, Captain Monro moved: "That theio be a general reduction in all tho Board's dues and that tho, secretary be instructed to preprro a return showing the dues and charges levied by tho other Boards in the Dominirii." The motion was seconded l»y Mr M. J. Miller, and carried. The following tenders were accepted : —Four three-ton cranes, Messrs Babcock and Wilcox. The cranes should be delivered in Lyttelton about the end of this year. New boilers for tlio dredge Canterbury, Babcock and Wilcox, and floating crane, Messrs Fleming and Ferguson, combined with Sir W. Arrol. The crane would arrive about August, 192 G. Plant for cool stores, John Burns and Co., Ltd., £2163 15s.
