It may not be generally known that a man arrested for drunkenness may. on production of the sum of one guinea, demand the services of a doctor to pronounce on his condition. Counsel in a case under review at "Wanganui Court mentioned that it was hard lines on.poor people. (Laughter.) "Every person getting drunk should keep a guinea in reserve," said Senior-Sergeant Lopdell—-a remark that brewed smiles all round the Court room.
