Pastures/ Being important evidence from many sources that definitely establishes the Top-dressing of Pastures with "Rockland" Superphosphate as a big economic factor in successful farming, opening the way to greatly increased profits with a small initial expenditure. AT "BEAU DESIR," TAITAPU. (MR JOHN G. FIECKEN) Paddocks were top-dressed with 2 cwt. of 44-46 per cent. "Rockland" Superphosphate to the .acre. One paddock received two applications, making the total top-dressing 4 cwt. of "Rockland" per acre, and grew an enormous crop of hay of about 4 tons per acre, the difference between the 4 cwt. and 2 cwt. dressings were noticeable, but not very marked till the second crop came away, when the 4 cwt. part was quite 30 per cent, better than the 2 cwt. area. AN OLD PASTURE REVIVED. On an old pasture down 14 years 2 cwt. of "Rockland" Superphosphate per acre was applied to try the effect' on clover. The result was beyond all doubt-—the top-dressed portion of the paddock wfce quite TOTTR TIMES BETTER than the portion which was not top-dressed. ON A NEIGHBOURING FARM. A top-dressing of "Rockland" Superphosphate was applied after a sowing of Italian Ryegrass was well up in the spring. The result was an enormous crop of hay. This was followed later in the season by a second-growth crop, which was left to ripen, and threshed 32 bushels per acre of seed—subsequently sold at 6s. per bushel. The top-dressing of ' 'Rockland" only cost 15b. per acre, and the seed alone from the of the following year this paddock got away as though it had been freshly dressed—all but a small strip that had been missed the year before, thus showing that a top-dressing of 2 cwt. per acre is not exhausted in one season. CLARENCE RESERVE, KAIKOURA. (MR. I. ACTON-ADAMS) One paddock with clover was top-dressed in strips with "Rockland" Superphosphate, and resulted in most striking evidence in favoxir of top-dressing. At a cost of 12s Sd per acre the clover where top-dressed gave a return worth £3 to £4 per acre more than the other on the first cut of hay alone. AT OHOKA. (MR. C. MORGAN WILUAMS) Last winter a paddock was top-dressed with "Rockland" Superphosphate, 2 cwt. to the acre, a strip two widths of the the drill being left without Superphosphate. The contrast of the comparative absence of red clover on the unnjanured strip was so very evident that a neighbour asked if clover had not been sown on that strip. LEESTON FARMS. Mr. S. Hurford with 2 cwt. of "Rockland'* Superphosphate per acre and had excellent results, the clover growing two feet high and very thick. Cattle pasturing on the top-dressed land ceased chewing bones and sticks, and thrived splendidly. Mr. W. Hurford top-dressed 60 acres with 2 cwt. of 4 'Rockland' • to the acre with equally good results. Mr. W. J. Nairn top-dressed a paddock, and it became a mass of white clover. result was wonderful. The undressed portion still looks starved, while the top-dressed portion flourished and produced an excellent crop of clover. :4TMTLi irRE L4i£ HI^VMMIi dress pastures, and orders Superphosphate should be placed without delay Manufacturer*: and Station Agents and Produce Merchants.
