ANNUAL TRIALS. I The annual dog trials of the.Waiau Collie Club "were held on the property of. Mr W. D. Banks. So. numerous were the entries, 160 in all, that tho trials had to be carried en into the third day.. The weather on the Monday and Tuesday was beautifully fine, but heavy rain was falling on Wednesday [ morning, making the conditions for the conclusion of the trials very unpleasant. There was a large attendance of spectators, and they were rewarded by seeing many of the competitors perform in good stylo, and the function was a great success in every way. The eiub is in a very satisfactory flnanoial position, and has recently erocted a fine shelter-shed on the grounds which is highly convenient for • both officials and spectators. On both days tho Waiau Girls' Hockey Club conducted a refreshment booth, nnd while tUpy reaped a Very satisfactory pecuniary return, the refreshments were greatly appreciated by all. Mr W. W. Mcßae acted as judge, and performed his tasks in a very able manner. The.following are tho results:—■ CLASS I; —For Maiden Dogs, Open. Headand Bringing Back, about 400 yards; time, 8 minutes.
