* NEW SPHERE FOR OFFICERS. (BY CA.HI.E-rTIF.S3 association—cormiairr.) (AUSTBALIAX A.VD N.Z. CADLB ASSOCIATION) (Received Juno .00th, 0.0 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Juno 29. Mr Andrews, assistant secretary of tho Treasury, advised Army and Navy officers that they would be drafted into Prohibition enforcement under a now system to cow with law evasions. Eligible officers would include those receiving less than 2500 dollars yearly, those physically unfit for field service, and thoscs eliminated, through tho recent reorganisation of tho Services becauso of their short service. Ho said the character and training of officers should mako them excellent directors of enforcement work, and intimated that thoir independence of politics was an additional favourable point.
