W.E.A. ACTIVITIES.
The Canterbury Hotel and Restaurant Employees' Un.i,on has increased its grant, this year to the W.E.A. to £C 6s, one guinea nioro than hitherto. The Canterbury District Council meeis tomorrow and" will consider the new constitution as adopted'by the Dominion Council. The new constitution docs not come into" effoct until after next annual Dominiou confrrence, and District Councils c.an offer any amendments, which will be considered bv conference. The District Council will also discu.-.s the suggested evidence to be submitted to the I'nive'raity Commission wheA it sits in Christchurch. ■' The fortnightly social, held in the "W.E.A. rooms last Saturday evening, -was highly successful, over sixty students and their friends . attending. Songs and recitations were given by Miss I. Struthers, Miss Zora Adkins, Mrs McLcod, and Messrs "W. "Worrall, J. Sturrock, and W. 11. Moses. Dancing (not jazz) ivas indulged in, and also community singing, the old-English folk songs being greatly appreciated. Mesdames S. Ockenden " an-.i Edmonds provided the music'for thn dancing.
