"When tho Home Bank failed last year thousands of small depositors lost all their savings Parliament has now passed a compassionate vote of 3.000,000 dollars, from which all depositors having deposits of 500 dollars or less with the bank at tho time of the failure shall receive 3j per eent. of the amount. Larger depositors have to prove straitened circumstances before they "benefit. Sonic time ago the directors of_ the Home Bank were convicted and given sentences ranging from one to ten years. Yesterday the Appeal Court quashed the convictions ou a technicality.
